Learner Objectives:
• Become familiar with the current use of simulation in anesthesia practice.
• Review the use of simulation in current training programs.
• Develop new modalities in the treatment of perioperative hypertension.
• Accurately assess and manage hypertensive patients during the perioperative period.
• Using updated information, develop a plan to manage perioperative glycemic issues.
• Using information reviewed in didactic presentations, utilize simulation to enhance patient care in patients with arrhythmias and/or pacemakers/ ICDs.
• Address pediatric emergency concerns for the non-pediatric anesthesiologist.
• Accurately assess issues regarding pediatric emergency procedures for the practicing non-pediatric anesthesiologist.
• Develop a better understanding of the patient with a pacemaker or ICD.
• Identify and manage common perioperative arrhythmias.
• Improve patient care by developing strategies to care for a patient with a perioperative arrhythmia.
• Become more organized in the thought process of common OR problems through the use of simulation scenarios.
• Effectively develop a strategy to assess and manage patients in the acute  pain setting.
• Manage the patient with neuropathic pain.
• Enhance patient care skills by developing a strategy when confronting patients taking herbal supplements.
• Better understand current literature regarding herbal supplements.
• Enhance skills needed to provide care of patient requiring peripheral nerve block by using techniques developed in the peripheral nerve blockade
workshop.
• Learn new techniques and observe new technologies in peripheral nerve
blockade.
• Enhance the understanding of concerns regarding pediatric outpatient anesthesia.
• Re-familiarize yourself with new issues in outpatient pediatric anesthesia.
• Improve your management of patients undergoing major vascular procedures.
• Treat complications involved in major vascular procedures.
• Enhance knowledge on current concepts in preadmission testing.
• Become more effective in the preoperative evaluation of patients.
