The Thyroid Gland: Small But Essential!


The thyroid, a 1-ounce gland located in the front of the neck, also known as an endocrine gland, secretes hormones into the blood that circulates its products to all tissues of the body. Those hormones control vital functions in every cell. Normal levels of thyroid hormone help the brain, heart, intestines, muscles and reproductive system function normally.
